“Blooms, Doom and Murder: A Garden of Deadly Delights”
Presented by Melody Lindley
Fort Bend County Master Gardener

Learn which garden favorites can be toxic, how they affect people and pets, and how to grow them safely without fear. This program is perfect for gardeners who love plants but want to know which ones deserve a little extra caution.
Melody Lindley is a Certified Master Gardener in Fort Bend County (since 2020) with advanced training in Herbs (2024) and Junior Master Gardener Youth Activities (2022). She is active in the Fort Bend Master Gardener Youth Activity Group, helping with EarthKind Kids Camp and monthly programs at local schools and homeschool groups, teaching children about plants and gardening.
She grew up in the Midwest, gardening with her father from the time she was big enough to join him in the family garden. That early experience sparked a lifelong love of plants and sharing that love with others.
Melody is also an organic, synthetic, and analytical chemist. Earlier in her career, she worked in medicinal research at the WVU School of Pharmacy on short-acting beta-blocker drugs for emergency treatment of heart attacks and later as a formulator at Mylan Pharmaceuticals.
An avid murder mystery fan, Melody blends her chemistry background with real plant examples and historical poison stories to create a talk that is informative, a little bit chilling, and a lot of fun for gardeners.
