Thank You to all who helped make the 2014 Sugar Land Garden Club Fall Festival and Plant Sale a HUGE SUCCESS: Our Many Hard Working Volunteers, Our Generous Sponsors, Our Wonderful Array of Vendors. Photos by Kathy Hradecky, Garden Club Member and Fall Festival Co-Coordinator
It was bigger and better than ever.
The Sugar Land Garden Club Fall Festival to be held September 27, 2014, featured a kick-off event for “The Great Grow”, an elementary school garden competition. Garden Club members visited local area schools in May offering $100 in start-up garden funds and the opportunity to compete for “The Best School Garden” and a $500 grand prize. Participants will bring their harvest to market in spring 2015 at the Imperial Farmers Market where final judging will occur.
Another highlight of the Fall Festival included The Brookwood Community Plant Sale outdoor tent sponsored by Gallery Furniture. The Brookwood Community, “Where Adults with Special Needs Contribute to the World” is a favorite organization of both Mattress Mack of Gallery Furniture and the Sugar Land Garden Club. The new Gallery Furniture store, set to open in Fort Bend County this fall, will house an area for Brookwood Community art work. The Sugar Land Garden Club is celebrating its 20th year of volunteer service at Brookwood Community.
We have grown from a Plant Sale to a full scale FALL FESTIVAL. We will still have all your favorite sought-after, unique plants, but much more. Our 16th annual Plant Sale featured an exciting selection of unique and hard to find plants that are beautifully suited to our gardens in the Sugar Land / Houston area. Colorful plants of over 150 varieties of proven, hardy selections from Treesearch Farms will catch your eye and make a great addition to your own backyard retreat.
